Part one — the broth enhancement:
To whatever bone broth you are making or buying, add before drinking: one teaspoon of blackstrap molasses stirred in while warm, and a pinch of cayenne. The molasses provides the magnesium, calcium, and potassium the body uses to maintain joint tissue. Most people are deficient in all three without knowing it. The cayenne opens the circulation so the minerals actually reach the joints instead of passing through.
Part two — the liniment:
Mix together: two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, one tablespoon of castor oil, and five drops of wintergreen essential oil. Shake in a small glass jar. Every night before bed, rub a small amount into the most affected joints — knees, hips, hands — and cover with a warm cloth for fifteen minutes. Wintergreen contains methyl salicylate, which penetrates the skin and reduces inflammation directly in the tissue. The castor oil pulls circulation to the surface. The vinegar reduces the acidity that inflamed joints are bathed in.
Part three — the morning rule:
No cold drinks before noon. Cold contracts. Inflamed, restricted joints need warmth and movement — not contraction. This sounds simple because it is. Mama said half the joint problems she saw would have been helped just by people stopping with the cold drinks first thing in the morning.
